In my french class, Charlie Joe decided to visit this afternoon. I was asked to write a response-blog to someone’s article where my opinion was the opposite.
I chose to write about the Positives of Facebook and Technology with Charlie-Joe’s oh-so-weird personality.
Here it goes:

The title is: “Time’s toll on societal beauty: through poets’ eyes”
INTRO: The music we listen to, the shows we watch and the books we read (or don’t read) effect us all. Society has found ways to shape our beliefs, our thinking, our dreams, our goals… it has managed to shape us all, inside and out. Society has told us “right from wrong”. From what to wear, what to drink, to eat, or not to … all the way to what to say, what to be and to think, it has been influencing our every move. The old sayings of “beauty is within” or beauty being “in the eye of the beholder” have withered away in the hands of our media. It is only when we escape from these trends and refused to let ourselves be influenced will we ever truly find beauty from within. Sometimes, we are forced to close that door due to unfortunate (or fortunate) circumstances, while at other times; we must simply face the sad reality of time’s toll on societal beauty.
CONCLUSION: It seems today we tend to find or define our identity and measure our self-worth from the outside –in. We judge our rate of success or failure by our looks. We quit and give up things we never wished to part from due to our view on the opinions of others and the comparison to those who do not matter. It is ill-fated that our next generations to come will have to deal with the same dictation as we did. They too will never feel they measure up to what they ought to be to succeed or to find real happiness, like the ones in our fairy-tales and fake-reality shows. Wishes are made for the future where our children and our children’s children will realize that their blood and the sum of their experiences defines them. That they are not held captive to a determined faith, rather they are captains of their ship of greatness. Time can never take toll on any person and no circumstance can come between itself and its beauty if we throw out and reject the terms of society’s qualifications and embrace what we do have to offer to the world. We’ll have to face the fact, sooner, hopefully, rather than later, that “That, too, is beautiful” (54).
